Schools

Outdoor activities help to instil the basic elements of teamwork because participants often have to rely on each other and challenge people both physically and mentally.  They have been described as ‘Experiential Learning’ in the Outdoors.  Outdoor activities provide a more ‘even playing field’, giving children an equal opportunity to learn.

Courses delivered by Crux Outdoors include;

•    Orienteering (including a school mapping service);
•    Rock Climbing (both indoor and outdoor);
•    Mapping skills;
•    Hill Walking;
•    Team Building.

These individual courses will be tailored to suit the requirements of the school with programmes being delivered as a block or over the term.  Multi-activity courses can be any combination of the courses detailed above.

Schools that already visit an outdoor centre for a residential activity week may wish to become involved in our programme aimed at primary 6 children.  This course delivers a day of orienteering, rock climbing and hill walking and prepares children for their residential visit when they move in to primary 7.

All participants are provided with waterproofs, fleece, boots and a rucsac for the activities that require them.
